"And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins." (Hebrews 5:3 KJV)
"You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross." (Colossians 2:13-15 NLT)
You think you have figured it all out, and then you discover that there is so much more, more than you could ever really comprehend! I don't want to try and explain what this means, because I don't really know all of the details; but Jesus didn't just pay for our sins on that cross; He gained back something that was taken when Adam sinned; something that was His!
How much do we really know? We only know what God has shown us; besides that, we really don't know that much! When Paul gives his testimony about being in Heaven, that he was in paradise, it was what he heard that amazed him. As he says, "I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell." (2 Corinthians 12:4 NLT)
Yes, Jesus paid the price for our sins, each and every one: not just for all of us, but He defeated the devil and did something that needed to be done in the Kingdom, once and for all...
"Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel, who shouted with a loud voice: "Who is worthy to break the seals on this scroll and open it?" But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll and read it. Then I began to weep bitterly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll and read it. But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, "Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David's throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals." Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out unto every part of the earth. He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne." (Revelation 5:1-7 NLT)
