"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." (Hebrews 5:12 KJV)
"Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn't talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in the Christian life. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren't ready for anything stronger. A you still aren't ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren't you living like people of the world?" (1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NLT)
A quick and easy way to see this, somewhat practical matter, is to understand where it is that you belong! First of all, we are no longer citizens of this earth; although we live and move here, as we have since the beginning of our past life, we have been born again; living the rest of our days as if we belong somewhere else: with Jesus up in Heaven! Obviously, we sometimes forget this, very simple understanding, because there are so many things we get involved in from time to time, things that reattach us to this earth.
There is really no other way we have to say this! Who is it among you that has a dusty Bible? A Bible that just sits there, not being read, as if that takes up too much of your time, time you need for the other things that distract you from thinking about God or your real purpose on this earth!
Not judging, just making a point. Take an observation next time you go to church, of how many people actually carry a Bible; even the large percentage of children don't have a Bible under their arms; which actually should be the instruction of the Sunday School teacher: "Bring Your Bible!"
Anywho, don't get me started. When my wife and I taught Sunday School, if a kid didn't have a Bible, we made sure to give them one. And then we would have a chance to encourage them each Sunday that they showed up with their Bible. Hardly any of them didn't ever bring their Bible; and if they did forget, they would feel ashamed for not having it.
By the way, this thing about using an electronic device instead of an actual Bible, although it might seem cool and easy to have on hand, it could become something that be detrimental and hinder your life or wellbeing. I know that might sound crazy and over the top; but these devices keep track of you. If things get bad, as they are going to sooner or later, your electronic device will show off the fact that you are a Christian!
Crazy, isn't it! People sometimes don't carry a Bible, because they don't feel cool when they do; but if the powers to be crack down on Believer's, things will get real, and you will be found out! Which actually is okay with me! I am more than ready to go home...
"But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control." (Philippians 3:20-21 NLT)
