"To Render Evident"

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." (John 1:9 KJV)

"This is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:5-8 KJV)

The truth is for setting us free; which is a message I heard the other day and was waiting for today in order to share this message along side of it. The concept of religion is that of one that is bound to a certain belief; which is not a bad thing in and of itself, except for the fact the Christ Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of the law! God did not give us the law to place us in bondage: He gave us the law in order to show us our great need to be set free!

If you could imagine what it might feel like to be trapped in a pit of darkness, and then be exposed to the Light of freedom: this is the concept of what we are trying to look upon today; and it works both ways! The Light is rendered evident because it effects change; those that are given or receive the Light are rendered evident because they are changed, and they know it!

Oddly enough, it is sometimes sad to say, every man or woman is effected by the Light, whether they even know it or not. When you have an encounter with Christ, He knocks upon your heart to offer you a chance to be set free from sin. When you accept this offer being made, you are not only set free from your sins, but you are set free from the bondage of the law that made you a sinner. When you refuse to open that door to Christ, you are hardened to the Light that was offered, making yourself offended to the Light, because you prefer darkness instead.

In other words, your rejection of the Light is not going to work to your benefit, as if to give you the freedom you might think that it will, but because you have been exposed to the Light, your sins have been made evident, and your heart is made harder to overcome what you now know. But do not be without hope, if you feel that might be you: even the hardest heart can be broken!

I remember something we would kid about in jail, those of us that had been set free: that we did not need anyone to tell us we were sinners, because the crimes we were doing time for bear us witness, we were sinners indeed! As a matter of fact, until about five minutes before I started this post, my title was going to be just that: "Indeed!"

You know how I know that my salvation is real, because Jesus shows me it is real, by His Word...

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 KJV)
