"Real Protection"

"For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods." (Psalms 135:5)

For those that like to take chances, chance is not part of this discussion; not when it comes to putting our faith in the LORD! There was some very good points made yesterday as Pastor Bryan was breaking down 1 Thessalonians 2:13; the most of which was Paul's description of what God's Word does in the heart of the Believer. The thing I remember most about the weeks and months after I got saved, was the peace and joy I had in my life; it was as if all fear had been removed, the only thing that mattered was the hope I found in Jesus Christ. One of the things that was spoken of, was the fact that no one can take that which we have received and consumed away. It is absolutely true, that we have something that cannot be challenged, because we know what we have is the truth. This is the proof, in that the Spirit of God lives in us confirming all that we hear, with, "Yes and Amen." You know, bank tellers are trained to detect counterfeit bills, by knowing what the real bills are like and studying them. It is pretty much the same with our training to understand and know what is truth and in line with God's Word, it is by studying God's Word and knowing what He is like. The basic lesson to be learned is that He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever; in other words, He does not change! So, if someone wants to try and persuade you otherwise, you already know the truth: not only is it written in His word, it is branded upon our hearts; and if that does not do it for you, we have the Holy Spirit living in us to confirm it is so. Does that mean we cannot be led astray? I wish that it did, because there are many who are; and it's only going to get worse, the closer we get to His return. One thing you can take away from that closing Scripture from yesterday, besides the fact that God is in control, is the point made about how those that build idols are planning; in other words, they don't just throw something at you and expect it to stick; they work it into something that can be bought and can even stand on its own. We must be diligent and observant; but most of all, we must know what the Bible says, and believe it as truth. Did God actually make the heavens and the earth in six days? What does the Bible say? Because whatever it says is the Truth! Why debate something that is not up for debate! God said it, I believe it, and that settles it...

"Haven't you heard? Don't you understand? Are you deaf to the words of God -the words he gave before the world began? Are you so ignorant? God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent with them. He judges the great people of the world and brings them to nothing. They hardly get started, barely taking root, and he blows on them and they wither. The wind carries them off like chaff. "To whom shall you compare me? Who is my equal?" asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless." (Isaiah 40:21-29) NLT
