"The Worse of The Worst"

"How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah." (Psalms 82:2) If you know where you are headed, then your heart should be towards heaven, where it belongs. It's hard to make that the focus of you desires, especially living in this world while enjoying all of it's pleasures. I'm not talking about evil pleasures, I'm talking about some of life's simple pleasures, like beautiful sunsets, a walk on the beach, a morning sunrise; you name it, there are plenty of things to keep our focus and attention on God's amazing creations. There is really nothing wrong with loving to experience the splendor of the good things this life has to offer. But when we find ourselves putting these pleasures above those waiting for us in heaven, that's when we can find ourselves out of sorts. This verse pretty much is speaking to those who judge unfairly; such as a person who is in the place of what is right, but judges on the side of what is wrong. I feel the Lord speaking to me about what it is that makes someone do such a thing, more than what it is that they are doing. This was one of those things Jesus took issue with the Jewish Leaders about; and more than that, it was what motivated them to have Him put to death; even to the point of preferring His death over that of a murderer. It really takes a certain kind of person to do that, because there is a something of a monstrous nature that comes to life within them, that nothing else matters but their will and desire. The sad thing about all of that, is that it could happen to anyone of us, if our hearts are in the wrong place. We are to do something special, because we are special! We are no longer of this world, but only living through it. It's hard to keep our focus and hold onto all the great things this earth has to offer; and at the same time, it's harder still if we are seeking acceptance in this world. That is what I think takes a person from one side to the other, to be accepted by the world and it's standards. It's okay to love the things of the world, but it's not okay to love being a part of it, or even conforming to it's standards. This is an evil place, ruled by evil men, and with the powers of darkness at work in it; but God still holds all the cards, and He still has plans for dealing with it! Oh, does He ever...
"By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who has called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. In view of all of this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins." (2 Peter 1:3-9) NLT
