"Love Without Measure"

"O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people."
(Psalms 105:1)
It is easy to forget what it is that keeps our spirit pressing forward; this life has a way of causing our hearts to become numb to what it feels like to be loved the way that God loves us. I was thinking about this the other day and shared it with a friend, that the devil loves it when we reflect upon the bad choices we have made; when we gloom over those past mistakes. He takes those opportunities to try and convince us that we are unworthy of God's love. Well, if that ever happens, we need to remember that we are not worthy of His love; none of us are worthy of God's love! He loves us because He has chosen to love us, regardless of how unworthy we might be; His love is not based upon our ability to do this or that, it is based upon the fact that He loves us, period! When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, He mentioned that He was not sent by the Father to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17) We really don't need condemning, because we were condemned already. Jesus came to free us from our condemnation and give us life, eternal life in Him. When we are talking about love without measure, this is not something that we possess on our own, it is only something that is of God. That consuming fire spoken of, that fire that burns away all that is not of Him, it is His love; the closer we get to Him, the deeper our love becomes, the brighter His love will shine in our hearts. There are three very simple parts to the verse above; the first one being the most important one of all, to give Him thanks! It is not just a simple little, 'Thank you God for what you do,' it is more about thanking Him for loving you, regardless of what you do! That is why the second part is to "call upon His name," because it is only about God's love; it's not even about us giving thanks, because our giving thanks really changes nothing; His love never changes! The third part is really the easiest part, because it only requires that express the love we have been given. Maybe you don't think it is so easy; maybe you are afraid to express God's love to others; but it is not really like you need to become a preacher or evangelist; you just need to be yourself and express who He is to you, the rest is up to God. It is His love that we are talking about, not our own. If we can remember that, then maybe we will not feel so intimidated to make His deeds known...
"I am writing to God's church in Corinth, to you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for people everywhere who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. Through him, God has enriched your church in every way -with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge. This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true. Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:2-9) NLT
