"God's Reasons" -2

"Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:" (Psalms 95:10)
Another way we can see this happening is by looking at it more in a manner of a journey; not just in the way one might travel, but in the direction and purpose. Before the Christians were known as that, they were referred to as the Way, as in the way to salvation; or if you will, "the way to eternal life." The word for "ways" is the word 'derek,' a word that means way, toward, journey; basically, it means the way which leads to that place, which ever place one might be headed. God's ways are always in the direction towards Him, they always have been. It is the devil who designs ways which are headed away from God, for he is the father of lies and deception. For what ever reason, we tend to prefer the ways of the devil; it is our natural tendency; due to the wickedness of our heart and the desire of our flesh, we naturally are drawn towards that which leads us in the direction away from God. The only way to combat our natural tendency is by a supernatural intervention, which is by God's Spirit living inside of us; and then we must yield to the Holy Spirit. I don't think it is even possible to do anything on our own, even if we tried, it would not count for anything if God was not the source of what is being done. We might not see how that actually works, but God's ways are always going to be better than ours, because His are always pure and holy. We do not need to know all the answers; we don't even need to know the reason why, it is not our place to question why; ours is to question what, as in, What shall I do for you Lord? If we can just get that straight in our hearts and minds, maybe we can begin to see victories more often over the flesh. But we tend to gravitate towards the flesh; even after having achieved great victories in the Spirit, our natural tendency is to draw back towards our flesh. Call it pride or a desire to be more mature than we really are; we think if it happened once, then we can make it happen again on our own. We can't! Stop trying to make it happen on your own; you are only going to win by letting God take control. Anything else will lead to destruction and pain...
"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes -the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has faith." But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities -his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles." (Romans 1:16-23) NLT
