"They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?" (John 6:30 KJV)
"Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD. And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:11-14 KJV)
To the point of what they requested; Jesus will soon go into great depths making His point. But this is not something that can be shown in a simple demonstration or by example; this, again, is that which must be believed first, and then it becomes something that can be believed! Oddly enough, it is much like the sign that was made regarding the birth of Jesus; it was not manifested for hundreds of years, but it was meant to be believed, regardless!
I heard a little bit of a message about a week ago, from Pastor Mike V.; in which he spook about the two levels of miracles that God will manifest: Level One, and Level Two; One is that which defies all the laws of nature, Two is that which is possible, but highly unlikely. (I might have them upside-down, as I typically only get confused!) The difference between the two can be easily seen in the birth of Jesus and the birth of John the Baptist. Mary was a virgin that gave birth to a Son, as predicted or shown; without the help of a man; which was impossible and defied the laws of nature. Elizabeth had the help of her husband, and she also gave birth to a son, as was predicted; it wasn't really impossible, just highly unlikely because of her age.
The Truth is not something that is like a home, a place you can safely go and live in without being led astray or taken for a ride; because the Truth will never change, but we do not even know our own hearts, let alone can we stay true to the Truth! We must stay in the Truth by staying in the Word of God! Don't let yourself be diverted by strange fables and mysterious signs and wonders. If the Word of God does not agree with the idea or logic, then don't even park there long enough to listen.
By the way, What sign are you looking for to satisfy the reality of your salvation? Is it your ability to be strong against temptations? How about, your great relationship that is easy to keep with God? Is there no issues of retaining the peace and the joy, you so easily fell into? I hope you do not try and compare anything you might do or have the ability to do or not do, with the very special gift of God's Salvation!
There is nothing that we can do or not do, that can take away from that which we did not deserve and can never ever earn; neither does God need to prove Himself worthy of our attention; that He has already done...
"No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Able." (Hebrews 12:22-24 NLT)
