"But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not." (John 6:36 KJV)
"Then shall they answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?" (Matthew 25:44 KJV)
Before you begin thinking that this might be a hit piece on selfishness, let me direct you to the point Jesus is making about a past tense event, as in, "But I said unto you." When did Jesus say this? Practically all throughout the Scriptures! To give a really good example, Isaiah 53:3, "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not."
As with everything else, God knows the human heart; so too, He knows those that will believe in Him, and He knows those that will not. That said, Jesus is speaking in the Jews, which will be, as it were, them that will condemn Him to the cross! You might say that is could be a pretty good sign that they did not believe in Him!
What this is more about, is those that require a sign, as in, the proof beyond just belief! Don't get me wrong, signs and wonders are real and they still happen; but that is not the sign to are to be looking for, because the true sign that matters the absolute most, has already taken place! Jesus came, He was nailed to the cross, He died for our sins, and He rose again on the third day: just as predicted, and as it was told that it would happen, it happened!
There really is nothing else that needs to be said: God Loves Us And Gave His Son For Us; now we must love Him and one another...
"Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakeable, let us be thankful and please God by worshipping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire." (Hebrews 12:28-29 NLT)
