"Endeavour!" - 2

"Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." (Hebrews 4:11 KJV)

"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful." (Colossians 3:12-15 NLT)

So, this word, "Endeavour," which can be used as both a noun and a verb, is based upon a purpose driven life; in other words, the life that you live here on this earth has a purpose! 'What would you have me to do today, Lord?' Is something we should be living out on a daily basis; but instead, most of us are just trying to keep our lives from falling apart!

That might seem rather intuitive for me to say; but it is only because it is what I witness; and even feel to be true about in my own life. It is sometimes strange feeling, as I pull back the covers, set up the pillows, and prepare the bed to go to sleep, thinking about how routine another day has become. It feels as though I just did that, and here I am, doing it again.

We are meant to be doing God's will, day after day, making our lives a living sacrifice, not living day to day as if we need something more or don't have real purpose; we are children of God, and we have an inheritance like no other...

"By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires.

"In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

"The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are short-sighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

"So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:3-11 NLT)
