"Living Hope"

"But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." (Hebrews 3:6 KJV)

"So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold - though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." (1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT)

I could help but think of Peter, who denied Jesus three times, on the night that He was arrested and was being tormented, on His way to the cross. As I wrapped up that message yesterday morning, there was something that I remembered which Jesus told Peter earlier that night: "Die for me? I tell you the truth, Peter - before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me."

Good news with that, is that Peter was terribly torn up over what he did, and he was seriously sorry for what he did. Believe it or not, but that is what Jesus prayed for, that he would be strengthened and restored! Aren't you so glad that our Lord and Saviour is watching out for us!

Sometimes we can really make some big mistakes, even though we don't set out to do anything wrong, we just get caught off guard, and our flesh takes over. But that isn't enough to feel as though you lost the race, as some have felt and walked away from the faith. We must not give up, no matter what...

"We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." (2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT)
