"Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house." (Hebrews 3:2 KJV)
"Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask." Jesus told her, "Your brother will rise again." "Yes," Martha said, "he will rise when everyone else rises, at the last day." Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?"" (John 11:21-26 NLT)
Just so you know, the word, "faithful," which is shown in the description, "Who was faithful to him that appointed him," is a word that illustrates belief, as in believing, or being a believer. In other words, the faithful quality is the result of believing, being sure that everything will be just as it is meant to be, no matter what!
We are given the ability to be an overcomer when we move in that direction, because we believe that God has called us and He will work everything out. If you have any opposition or difficulties, they are not meant to hinder your abilities, but they are meant to cause you to depend more upon God's abilities than that of your own.
That is what believing comes down to, the more you trust in God, the more see God work things out, in ways you never expected! This illustration with Lazarus is a perfect way to see how this works. Jesus knew that Lazarus was sick and going to die, and He believed that it was for this purpose, in order to let him die, raising him on the fourth day. The reason for the delay, is because Jewish tradition says that the soul hangs around for three days, but on the fourth day, the soul gives up, and death is certain.
Even though we don't know all of the details, like Jesus did, we can still have faith in believing God's hand is guiding and directing our lives. That is also the case when we are dealing with something that is catastrophic, like dying from cancer, or having something wrong that will destroy your whole life, as you have known it!
If you truly believe that you have been given eternal life, then that is the direction you should be looking at, believing that is what you are facing! If you really want to overcome the fear of death, then you must be faithful in trusting God for your eternal life...
"The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen's accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God's right hand. And he told them, "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God's right hand!" Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rush at him and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul. As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." He fell to his knees, shouting, "Lord, don't charge them with this sin!" And with that, he died." (Acts 7:54-60 NLT)
