"Ministering Spirits"

"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14 KJV)

"If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The LORD says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation."" (PSALM 91:9-16 NLT)

To those who are aware of angels, meaning that you believe they are all around us, and they have been given the role and ability to watch over our lives, this Scripture is making it clear that they are real, that they do minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation! To be specific, it means that you are kept safe and secure, protected for that day when you will inherit salvation!

I know, it seems weird to think that way; but I know for a fact that there were a least four times I should have been killed growing up; maybe even several more that I don't even know about, as I wasn't allowed to go down a certain road, or board a certain plane, or a whole host of other reasons God was protecting me and guiding me through life, keeping me safe and secure.

Did that mean that I was never harmed? Absolutely not! There were several times when I had broken bones, major cuts, and crazy things which should have taken me out of this world. "But for the grace of God, there go I," is the story I will always believe...

"So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father." For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are his children. And since we are his children, we are heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering." (Romans 8:15-17 NLT)
