"Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes." (S.O.S. 1:15)
Before we move on, there is one more little item to clear up, as to the this fair thing; because God is the One that makes us this way; this is not something that we do on our own. If anything, we have a tendency to mess things up, if that is even possible. But God, the Creator of heaven and earth, He can take our mess and turn it into a message; He can take our mistakes, and He can use those mistakes for His purposes, and for His glory!
I don't really think we need to get into the particular examples, because there are plenty. Solomon is a pretty good example of how that might look; if that is you are like me, and expect to see him in heaven. Mistakes and all, God uses each and every one us to paint a beautiful picture of His wonderful grace; as Matthew Henry puts it: "That he takes great delight in the good work which his grace has wrought on the souls of believers; so that though they have infirmities, whatever they think of themselves, and the world thinks of them, he thinks them fair. He calls them friends."
The other mistake we make, all too often, is that over our weakness. It is good for us to know we are weak; it is good for us to know how much we depend upon Him to get us through this, whatever it is that we are in, even if it is not apparent. If there is anything here to express the meaning of these, "doves' eyes" it is that fact, humility and weeping eyes; eyes that are looking for God's direction and provision; not as the hawk or the eagle, those eyes the are searching out to fend for themselves.
No, this is more that speaks to, if you will, the look the glances back to Him; that look that is not looking to what it might get, but to what it is given...
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." (Romans 8:28-30)
