"So Great a Cloud of Witnesses" - Too

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," (Hebrews 12:1 KJV)

"With the Lord's authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity. But that isn't what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God - truly righteous and holy." (Ephesians 4:17-24 NLT)

On a much more serious note, the things we think that we do in private, which nobody can see, are really not private at all! We might think that they are, mostly because we have done exactly what Paul is saying: We closed off our mind to God's presence and hardened our heart against Him! If you don't think that is a real thing, think again! You are never, ever alone!

Happy is the man or woman that does everything as if God is watching! As for those that might have the ability to see us, as if there is a grandstand of people watching over our lives, I pray that isn't so, because there have been things I have done that I am very ashamed of, and I won't have wanted anyone that I have known to see some of the things that I did.

But who am I kidding!!! Just because we close our mind and harden our hearts, does not mean that God, or even anyone else, does not see what we are doing! We are always surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses; so, keep reminding yourself about that, and live as though you are being watched; because you most surely are...

"I look up to the mountains - does my help come from there? My help comes from the LORD; who made heaven and earth.! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever." (PSALM 121 NLT)
