"Looking Unto Jesus!" - Always

"Looking unto Jesus that author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2 KJV)

"But you dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God's love." (Jude 20-21 NLT)

The thing about us looking unto Jesus, is not all about us trying to be like Him, because we really can't; the more we try, the more we seem to fail. He is the author and finisher of our faith, because He has done what needed to be done, once and for all! We are saved by grace; now we are guarded and protected by such a wonderful mercy, that with thanksgiving in our hearts, we work to follow Jesus to the best of our ability; knowing that it is only by His Spirit that we will even come slightly close to perfection!

Having been trying so long to be the man that I thought I should be, I sometimes forget about the man I first became, when I accepted Jesus into my heart. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I have failed or have lost my way, because the things we do that cause us to lose hope, are also the things that make us stronger. We just need more of Jesus and less of ourselves...

"But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness." (James 3:17-18 NLT)
