"But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." (Hebrews 5:14 KJV)
"I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called - his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 1:18-20 NLT)
As much as I want to be, perfect, I know very well that it isn't something I can achieve on my own; and even when I have help from the Holy Spirit, there are still times when I blow it, and I need to ask God for His forgiveness. But even though we fail sometimes, making stupid mistakes or having a moment when our own ego gets in the way of loving others, we must always ask for forgiveness and keep practicing for perfection, as Jesus has commanded us to do!
If you didn't recall reading that, it is several placing in the Bible, some of which are spoken straight from the mouth of Jesus: "But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48) Understandably, we don't have the ability to be perfect in these fleshly bodies; there will be times when we have something in us that will cause us to sin; but we must be able to realize that we have sinned, and then we ask God to forgive us!
Hopefully that makes sense, because it is just the way we practice being perfect! We are not going to be perfect as long as we are on this earth, but our Heavenly Father sees us as if we are perfect, when our sins are covered by the blood of His Son, 100% percent of the time...
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts." (1 John 1:8-10 NLT)
