"Baby Steps"

"For everyone that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe." (Hebrews 5:13 KJV)

"And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you." At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for reveling them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!"" (Matthew 11:23-26 NLT)

I know it might seem as though I am, understandably, looking at this from a different point of view; however, there is something here that needs to be brought to light. As far as the milk goes, it describes this certain thing, 'uncertain affinity.' Basically, it means that there is doubt or uncertainty: a lack of surety and clarity. In other words, it basically means, 'for the less difficult Christian truths.'

By the way, I heard something yesterday that was quite interesting, that had to do with having milk and meat together, as the law supposably of the Jews implies. Which was actually something that was added to that actual law, which was that they should not cook the meat of a calf in its mother's milk. Strange, I know, but it is interpreted by scholars to prohibit the mixture of meat and dairy.

Anywho: this might seem a little hard to comprehend, but it the word, 'useth', is the part which actually makes this all come together, as it implies that is where you stay, stuck on the less difficult Christian truths. Which, not that it is something we don't need, the basic truths, because we most certainly do, but we also need to grow. However, we must also believe and understand the spectacular and impossible things that God has done, because they too are true!

Without the complete picture, (not that I mean everything about God,) we don't really have a chance to grow and share the experience that the Lord has brought us through. In other words, we have to study His word, in order to explain certain things that need to be told! That said, we also need to be childlike; which means, we are never fully grown, but always in need of learning...

"I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made." (Philippians 3:10-16 NLT)
