"This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Galilee." (John 4:54 KJV)
"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." (Mark 10:15 KJV)
If it could be understood, it probably would not mean as much to us as it should; the more we figure out how anything works, the more we try to conform it into something to manipulate or make it something we can do on our own. If you will, this is not a new miracle, but the continuation of that which was the first, the changing of the water to wine, which was the representation of the transformation; while this, is that transformation coming to life.
I know you might call me bonkers; so what, I have been called worst. There is more to this than that of being the second miracle; just like there is more to being a Christian than that we are made brand new! Something that gets used up, is usually considered to be spent; but what God has given to us, can never be spent, to grows and grows the more it gets used and put into work.
Anywho, I don't want to bore you with things that you already know; so I will focus upon the question that I feel is reeling inside your head: What does Psalms 103:8-12 mean in any of this? Well, since you asked: Our transformation is manifested in righteousness, which is what takes from being separated from God, and into a right relationship with God: thus, we have been made brand-new; undeniably new! If you did not notice that you became brand-new, then you might have to go back and see what did not happen!
That said, the whole point about receiving the kingdom of God as a little child, is not child-like faith! Jesus complained to His disciples several times about their faith, saying, "O ye of little faith," not so much because they lacked the faith, but because they did not even try to use what little faith that they might have had. When a child takes his or her first step, it is like a miracle being put into work; but as they step out, it becomes more and more practical, natural, and something that is meant to be.
Call it whatever you want, but it is basic Christianity 101: You don't become a Christian by going to church, just like you don't become a Big Mac by going to McDonalds: God makes you a Christian and then you become the Church...
"So think clearly and exercise self control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, "You must be holy because I am holy."" (1 Peter 1:13-16 NLT)
