"And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." (John 1:33 KJV)
"Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth." (Psalm 73:25 NLT)
I know it is a little odd, but there is some continuity to my madness. Not quite sure why, but there is more to this than I know; besides, if you have been given something that God wants you to share, usually the intended audience is rather small; at least, that is what I have been told.
Regardless of how you came to know the Lord, the reason remains the same for you to have been called into service: that the LORD'S will be done! Whether you serve for years or minutes, you have been given New Life that you cannot loose, and that New Life is intended to reproduce New Life in others; whether that is a few or many, that really does not matter that much at all.
If you did not know, your only a small portion of God's amazing plan; but you are just as important as the anyone else, regardless of your contribution or your ability to serve. It is something that cannot be traced, even if you tried, you wouldn't be able to track the results given or taken to this world by a single life. As much as it might not seem to count, even a child taken in their mother's womb, is able to make some sort of a contribution to this life, because it was a life!
Every single life that is created, is created by God! Don't you forget that, because it is so very important to understand it; as it turns out, you are in a life saving service for God! Whether you know it or not, it is what you have been called for, and it is what you will do. You might not even know that you have done it, as it is not your doing, but God's! A really good example of what I mean, is the Thief on the Cross; how many countless souls have been saved because of his salvation? And yet, what was the scope of his ministry on earth?
Back on track; this is more about the moving of the Holy Spirit, as He is the one that reveals Christ in us and to us; without the Holy Spirit's work within our heart, we cannot even begin to see our need for God's salvation, let alone that we even need to know who Christ is, or what it is that He came here for. That said, it is very important that we know, this testimony given was not about the Holy Ghost being given to Jesus Christ; it was about the Holy Ghost revealing that He was Christ!
To make better sense of what I just said, Jesus Christ was not changed by the Holy Spirit descending down from heaven and abiding upon Him; He was revealed, but He received no greater power or any additional godliness. He was simply made to be verified as to who He was; by both the Holy Spirit and the Father, all at the same time! (Mark 1:9-11)
This might not seem all that important to some, but the Bible clearly says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8 KJV) We really don't need to evaluate that any further, but if you really want some Revelation, there is more to come...
"Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you," he said, "so why are coming to me?" But Jesus said, "It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires." So John agreed to baptize him. After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy."" (Mathew 3:13-17 NLT)
