"And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water." (John 1:31 KJV)
"Yet I still belong to you: you hold my right hand." (Psalms 73:23 NLT)
Don't ask me why, it just feels right, so I am doing it anyway; even if it might appear odd and out of place. Besides, I never did really clarify which six verses we were going to be taking apart. One thing that I know, more than ever before: God does not give up on us, even when we seem unfixable! We serve such an amazing and holy God, He never ever goes back from a promise! If He has said you are His child, it is impossible for you to taken out of His hand!
Before you stop trying to push that rock, there are some very interesting things we need to talk about; some of which might seem very obvious, some will seem as though they could have been easily missed. The rock that cannot be moved is there to make you stronger, not weaker; even though it might appear to be working the opposite in your physical life; maybe even to the point of making you feel like giving up. This is how God will manifest His power in your life; because your victory in anything is not from your strength, but in your weakness!
I know it sounds strange and hard to believe. To be perfectly clear, stranger things have been made to happen, when it is God's strength that makes to happen and not our own. This will not be the last time that John will admit that he knew Him not; besides the few verses from now, John questioned knowing Him when he was in prison and was feeling as if he has lost some hope. Not that he had given up all hope; because there are certain things in our lives that just distract us from the hope that matters most.
Besides, the whole point of faith, is not that you fully understand and know, but that you know enough to keep believing that it is so! Even when it seems you don't know anything at all; the degree of your perspective is what is causing you problems, not your position in the Lord. You are still His child when you doubt: no doubt about it!
If you are really interested in how to move that rock, it is not going to move until you ask God for help...
"For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened - those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come - and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame." (Hebrews 6:4-8 NLT)
