"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29 KJV)
"Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was torn up inside." (Psalms 73:21 NLT)
Okay, so here is something I believe is evident in us, if that's you, asking for some proof. First and foremost, the most important change in those that are His children, is that they realize they are broken and need God to fix them. Frustrated by their our lack of strength, we constantly fight to get things right; and as it seems, the harder we commit to try, the easier it becomes to fail!
Just so you know, that sin we bore, the red bloody mess of our lives, was placed upon Christ; He bore our sins, as only He could withstand the magnitude of all of our sin! Yes, that's right; the Eternal One, that came as a baby, to grow up as I child, and to be put to death as a man, He alone was able to take all of our sin upon Himself; to withstand everything that came with that sin: disgrace, humility, shame; separation from God! Everything but one single solitary thing: Guilt!
He did nothing wrong, yet He took everything upon Himself! That is the Lamb of God; a perfect Lamb that had been guilty of nothing, neither had any guilt of doing anything wrong! Do you see how it is that our hearts can be bitter? They are bitter because of the guilt we feel; not so much for what we might have done, even though that is always hanging around to keep us mindful; but for all the things we fail to do, as we know we could have done better.
It really does not need to be this way; at least not to the point of becoming a burden and stealing our joy away from us! The whole point of the changed heart, is that we are children of God! We are expected to be torn, because we can never be what we are meant to be, not in this current vessel! But, thanks to God, through the power of His Son, we can be all that He wants us to be, and so much more!
As I see this current state of affairs, we can expect to feel more and more at odds with this world; not that there is anything wrong with that, it is perfectly fine and excepted. But with that, there needs to be purpose; which, in the light of all that is being torn apart, we need to be about reconciliation! Yes, that is true in us, as much as it is true for us; we have been reconciled to God, to be about reconciling others to God; that is what we live for, that is our purpose.
Guilt is a lot like fear; they are both very real and very manageable! You can let them run you, or you can use what they give, to motivate you in the right direction! It is really very simple: Just reason it out and make the right choice...
"Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." (Romans 5:1-5 NLT)
