"And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God." (John 1:34 KJV)
"Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God's own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven." (Hebrews 1:1-3 NLT)
Just in case you did not catch the connection, John was aware of who Jesus was before he baptized Him, he just didn't realize who He really was, before He appeared here in the flesh! You can try all you want to pretend that Jesus is not who He said that He was, but in the end, you will finally confess that He is LORD!
There are very few things in this life that are important choices I have made; whether it was my choice to come back from Texas and make a life with the mother of my child, or the choice I made to get my family out from living with my mother; but there is nothing that compares to the choice I made to follow Jesus! As much as it hurts to see some of the pains we suffer in and though, this life is only a small little blip, compared to the eternity we get to spend with the Lord.
I heard a message yesterday that caused me to consider some of things that keep me running the race. It was about those that suffer persecution and how it is not so much the enemy coming against us, but more the chance for us to demonstrate our faith. It not only allows us to show others that our faith is real, it is a chance for us to see for ourselves what we are made of; because without the challenge, we seldom really know for sure.
It has been said, "You never know God is all you need until God is all you have." As much as we can pretend that is what we believe, it is not until we are able to live through that truth, that we can see it actually is the truth, in us! Practically every single thing we have in this world is not our own. And the more I try to figure out what might be mine, even my very breath belongs to God!
As far as the crazy things happening here and now, it is really not all that important what might take place or who might be what; the only thing that really matters is where you will be spending eternity! Do you know Him? and is He LORD of your life? Pray for your families, pray for your churches, pray for your pastors, pray for your leaders; and while you are at it, say a prayer for yourself...
"Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the LORD, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever." (Psalm 15 NLT)
