"And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come," (Hebrews 6:5 KJV)
"So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness." (1 Peter 2:1-3 NLT)
Let me say it again, just in case I didn't make myself clear: It is impossible, because we cannot undo what God has done! In other words, if there is a way for you to fall away, it is only made possible because you really never did commit yourself all the way!
Without being too out a line, let me try to put it another way, one in which we might all be able to agree upon. When we accepted Christ Jesus into our hearts, those who have believed for the sake of the life which is to come, they are the ones who have no more worries about what happens in the life; they have their heart set upon those things in Heaven.
Now, to be perfectly honest, we all have times when that is sometimes not the case; as much as I hate to admit it, we do from time-to-time care a little bit more for this life; but even then, it is basically normal. If you don't believe me, check out some of the things Abraham did, who, even after being told by God that he was going to do this and that, he still worried about his life, telling Sarah to pretend she was his sister, just so his own life wouldn't be taken.
There are certain things that cause, even the strongest believers, to hold a little too tightly to this world! But, most importantly: God still does not abandon them or throw them away: that isn't possible, for His love never fails...
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39 NLT)
