"And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance." (Hebrews 9:15 KJV)
"For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God's promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise. Why then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child that was promised. God gave his law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people. Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham." (Galatians 3:18-20 NLT)
One of those things I learned within the first couple weeks of my salvation experience, is, that Jesus was my Mediator before the Father. Something that is very important for us to know, because His death on that cross was more than enough to take away all of my sins, which include the sin that I did, almost the day or so after I was saved, as well as all the sins I have continued to do ever since I was saved. He stands up for me and mediates this cause: That His death on that cross really mattered; and the matter of my sin has been taken care of by His blood!
This is something that keeps me going forward, even in those times of feeling as though I have failed and don't deserve to be saved; none of us really deserve it, but we must absolutely and completely except it! There is really nothing we can do that will add to or take away from what Jesus did for us to be clean and made pure and free from sin. To be perfectly honest, I don't know of a single day, when I haven't had to ask for forgiveness; as a matter of fact, I think I ask for forgiveness several times, each and every day!
The greatest thing of all, is that no matter how any times I mess up and have to ask for forgiveness, Jesus is right there to mediate my case before the Father...
"For you are all children of light and of the day; we don't belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation." (1 Thessalonians 5:5-8 NLT)
