"Trials and Doubts" - Too

"While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:" (Ecclesiastes 12:2 KJV)

"I have discovered this principle of life - that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God's law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God's law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin." (Romans 7:21-25 NLT)

The more I think about why certain things might happen, the more I find myself feeling doubt about God's purposes and His protection over my life. If you really stop and realize what life really means, in this crazy and messed up world, this isn't the life that God is protecting!

I am currently in 2 Kings, which is very hard to deal with and understand. Whole families are being killed, as one king is taken out, the one who steps in kills all the offspring of the other, just to make sure no one from that family can try and take back the throne. Much of it is God's judgment being carried out, because the previous kings caused the people to worship other gods.

When it comes to the things we see happening that seem hard to understand, there is something we must do, whether we want to or not: Stop trying to understand! When we are faced with something happening in our lives that we don't understand, not knowing the reason why causes us to be discouraged and have doubt in our hearts. This is powerful tools the devil will use to cause us to give up or stop believing, all together. We must not let discouragement and doubt take control: Armor up and fight for your soul!

This is really fairly simple: This is all about what we see; that which is happening and going on all around us; all of which is temporary and is of this world. But we that are saved, who have given our lives to Christ, no longer are of this world; we might live in it, but even that is also temporary...

"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do." (James 1:2-8 NLT)
