"Something Precious" - 2

"The Preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth." (Ecclesiastes 12:10 KJV)

"We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God's people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God's wonderful grace." (Colossians 1:3-6 NLT)

Having been saved for all of these years, you would think by now I would have it all together; that there wouldn't be any doubt or weakness in my belief, at least not the things which have been settled, over and over again. But it isn't the truth of the Bible that make me doubt and weak in my faith; it is all about me, my lack of doing those things I should, and not doing the things that I should not.

So it isn't that I have any issues with the truth of God's wonderful grace, because it has been abundantly clear to me that it is true; but when I see my own life, I feel as though it falls short of the love and care I should be living out for others; especially those I seem to hurt the most.

Anywho, that's just me; I'm sure there isn't those kind of problems with anyone else! Don't get me wrong, it's not like I go around knocking heads or trashing people, just because I feel like it. But when we are not walking as we should, we have a tendency to take it out on others, as if it isn't our fault, but it is the fault of our situation or circumstance.

What does it mean to walk as we should? The point is the word "upright," which Solomon uses to express what was written. Basically, it means to do what he ought to do, his office; office meaning the position or place in this world. If we are saved and assured eternal life, then the things that happen in this life are not all that important; at least not enough to act as if they matter more than love, especially our love for God and others!

When we get overwhelmed by certain situations, they need to be evaluated as what they are, nothing compared to our eternity with the Lord! Those around us need to see the hope that is within us, especially in the trials and tribulations. When we have anything going on that appears to be harmful or disruptive to our precious lives, that is an opportunity to shine the Light of Jesus!

If we fail to do that, we fail to show others that we truly believe...

"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful." (Colossians 3:12-15 NLT)
