"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but be me." (John 14:6 KJV)
"Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you." And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland. The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land. Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish where desert jackals once lived. And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God's ways; fools will never walk there." (Isaiah 35:4-8 NLT)
Now that you have been given the obstacle of what might hinder us from serving by knowing how much we still need to be changed, we must understand how important it is to know that we can never enter into heaven based upon our own righteousness! This is the fact: Jesus paid the price for our admission, once and for all; there is absolutely nothing we can do, or not do, that will add to or take away from the life that He has freely given to us!
The list of things that are listed above from Isaiah 35, almost every one of them are things that we can find some similarity to our own condition; as we have been transformed into something new, based on what was the old. In other words, we are still the same person we were before, but all things are new and improved; yet they are still a work in progress!
The most important thing for us to know, (know means that we come to terms with,) is that we will not be perfect in this flesh, which is still corrupt, frail, and dying. This life we now live in Christ is temporary and is meant to be for giving glory to Him, in whatever journey that He has established for each and every one of us. As unique as we are, so too are the ways in which we serve and live out that testimony we have been given.
We must be faithful to do our best; knowing that He alone is the way to the Father! What truth is, is that fact that we had no way on our own, but He made the way, we must believe in Him! It is only Him who can give us life, because He is the Life! And the life we now have is in Him!
Oh me, oh my! What must I do! Love God and love one another; everything else will work itself out in the end...
"When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:11-13 NLT)
