"And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him." (John 11:15 KJV)
"When I think of this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (Ephesians 3:14-19 NLT)
There are certain things in this life that can really knock us off our 'high horse' and give us a dose of pure humility, causing us to take notice of just how weak and frail we really are. Hopefully, when that might happen, we don't blame God for knocking us off that, 'high horse,' but we blame ourselves for climbing up on it!
I know it might not seem relevant to this situation, because this involves proving a point; the point being, God is awesomely powerful! How else can we understand this, if we can't understand how much we need Him? Did you see that big bright ball of fire in the sky, that thing we call the sun? My mom would always say, "Don't stare at the sun, because it will blind you!"
It is not that it doesn't just suck us right into its powerful flames, because so far it hasn't; but because God holds us at a distance away from it, that is why we are safe and secure! We really don't realize just how blessed we are to be protected by such a loving God!
Here is the thing, whether you know it or not, we cannot save ourselves! Through countless times, man has tried to figure out ways to be safe, to live longer, to survive through catastrophic storms; you name it, and someone with a fear of it, has tried to make something happen. No matter how we try, there is nothing we can do to prevent death from happening.
So, I am happy to say, God made a way...
"Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous. God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 5:18-21 NLT)
