"When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was." (John 11:6 KJV)
""My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."" (Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT)
Regardless of what you might think God is doing, He is always doing more than you think! I think of it as ripples, as when the water is disturbed by anything; you see the water move, but you really don't see all that it moves and how much is actually altered by the movement.
Have you ever wondered why bad things happen to good people? Most likely you have; and having done so, have you ever really figured out why? In the case of Hezekiah, one of Judah's good kings, he was sick and was going to die; God even told him he was going to die and gave him opportunity to get his house in order. Something that isn't offered to everyone, good or bad.
Had God just allowed him to die without warning, things might have been different for Judah and Jerusalem; the Temple would not have been destroyed, the walls broken down, and a whole slew of things would not have been set in motion. But God knew what He was doing, because He knew everything that needed to happen, both the good and the bad, God used it for His good purposes!
Enduring love is something that continues on, regardless of what might take place or how difficult the journey might become, it endues on regardless of any complaints or complications, because it is not based upon something else, it is all about love! The strange thing is, love always says that it will be okay, because it endures through everything that is not okay!
Matthew Henery points out that Jesus could have gone there right away, saved him from his sickness, or if he had died just before He got there, simply brought him back to life; no big deal, because He had been doing that everywhere and that was what they imagined He would do. But this one was special! Jesus loved them and was going to allow them to experience something that would never be forgotten!
Sometimes we really cannot see all that is going on, because it continues on, long after we are gone...
"Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." (1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT)
