"But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" (John 5:47 KJV)
""Then the rich man said, 'Please Father Abraham, at least send him to my father's home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don't end up in this place of torment.' "But Abraham said, 'Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read what they wrote.' "The rich man replied, 'No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.' "But Abraham said, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.'"" (Luke 16:27-31 NLT)
Basically, it all comes down to believing that God's word is true, every last bit of it! We cannot take the parts we like, make them true and relevant; but ignore that parts we don't like, and pretend that they do not mean anything to us. The Whole Word of God, will make us Whole! Maybe I did not make that perfectly clear enough: You like the good parts, right? The parts that you don't like, are most likely, then, what you need to listen to!
O well, we gave it a try; maybe there will be another opportunity to make it happen for real! Life is full of second chances, Right? Not according to the rich man; as he sees things in hell, you only get one chance to get this right, and then, judgment! I mean, you can pretend that it will all work out in the end, or you can believe that you must make it work out now, because the end is final; your choice!
Something to think about, if you can catch a break long enough to ponder. Besides, the chances to be used of God, usually don't happen in your quite moments, when you are at peace; they happen when you are being crushed and you are bleeding out Jesus! Wow, now that I think of it, I prefer to just share what Jesus has done to give me eternal life, rather than make my statement, being in the form of a frisbee, stuck along the side of the road!
We always have a choice! God has given us a will, that we can choose to do His will, or not; the choice to totally up to us! Besides, those that get a pass, don't ask for a pass! Weird as that might sound, it is somehow always true. If you are expecting to get away with something, you won't; but if you are looking to be punished for what you have done, you will usually get a pass. Check it out!
Anywho; there are three things which I believe we need to be made whole: The first of which is the right desire to be made whole! God, please help me...
"Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." (Galatians 3:21-24 KJV)
