"When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten." (John 6:12-13 KJV)
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
There are some serious things we need to understand about how all of this works; not just for a supply of resources and provisions, because those things are here today and gone tomorrow: but for strength to be a vessel that can be used for the glory of God! If you are aware that God does supply all of your needs, material needs, as well as all your spiritual needs, then you are more equip to stay strong and content in the times when you are tested.
If I had to make this something that was easy to see and be understood, the handling of money might be the easiest way to make the point more understandable. Money, to the child of God, is a lot like the manna was to the children of Israel in the wilderness; it is provide by God, it is to be used up, not wasted, and not horded or stored up. That might not work well for some, because they don't like the thought of being able to not worry about financial issues on the horizon; let alone, what will get them through the next decade or two.
The whole point of trusting God, is to be trusting God! That works in every single area of our lives; whether it is in our finances, our health, in our marriages, or in the ministry we serve in; we must trust God will provide for all that we need! Do you need love? Do you need patience? Do you need the gift of healing? Each and every thing we need, is given and taken away by God; He gives and takes away!
Please don't get me wrong, as I don't feel as though we should be unprepared; but this is more about being dependent upon God for all of your needs, be it anything at all! If you are happily married and you feel life is really good, thank God for what you have; but by all means, don't think you don't need His help in holding it all together!
The summary of all of this is the fact that all four faces never come apart, they move in unison, and they have one mission, all as one! In the life of the believer, we are to remain humble in strength, yet courageous in our purpose; even if that purpose is one that is demeaning or we feel despised; whether it requires suffering or persecution; especially if it makes use dependent upon God, more and more!
Yes, the eagle sores higher than anything else, but it doesn't get to do that without God! By the way: did you not know, without God's hand of protection and His ability to hold all of this universe together, nothing would remain of this existence! What is more important than that...
"Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and feel to the ground to worship. He said, "I came naked from my mother's womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!" In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God." (Job 1:20-22 NLT)
