"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." (John 3:19-20 KJV)
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1 KJV)
Every day of walking with the Lord brings new challenges that can cause us to either look towards His soon return, or to look back towards those things of the world. I am not talking about the wickedness in the world, I'm talking about the general cares, such as living and having a life. It is sometimes hard to find a balance between the two, because life goes on, but sooner or later we are going to be out of here!
I am sharing on this because there is a connection between what was once those things we lived for, and what is now the things we must live after. Some do it better than others, that is pretty obvious; but each of us that have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we should all be striving for and towards the Light. Even if it is a dark time in your life, if you are one that has been set free from the darkness, you should be drawn towards the Light.
If you are questioning my observation, it is justifiable and you should; we can try to hide in the shadows, but when the Holy Spirit is living inside you, you are never going to hide well enough! Basically, that is my point; once we have been set free from sin, sin will no longer have dominion over our lives. We might dabble in something, we might fall into some ugliness or be led astray; but having know what it is like to no longer be under condemnation, is something very hard to forget.
There is a very real and apparent difference between those that are children of the Light and those that are still living in darkness. For one, the ones that live in darkness cannot stand the Light, therefore they will not seek fellowship with those that are of the Light. The other very important fact, is that we are no longer our own, we are the property of Christ Jesus.
You can pretend that you have the wheel all you want to; but it is just not going to happen! Take my word for it, if you belong to Christ, you won't get to far on your own...
"Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will. That's why those who are under the control of their sinful nature can never please God." (Roman 8:5-8 NLT)
