"His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the river of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set." (S.O.S. 5:12)
May I make a suggestion: "Read the Word slowly," as Pastor Bryan always says! There are certain things we can easily overlook by reading God's word too fast, as many of the things we need to hear are words that tie together what comes from His heart and into ours. Many times, we spend way to too much time on the words that we think will explain the meaning of the verse, and we skim right by the words that make the connection into the center of our hearts.
This is something extraordinary, as that which was just mentioned is actually the lesson learned by us, as we see the way that the Lord looks upon us! In a mild sort of way, He analyzes every little bit of who we are; yet in the same instance, He separates all of that which defines us, from that which makes us more like Him. If you are so inclined; a truly great lawyer is able to overlook the hard evidence, and is able to bring to the surface that which overrules or eliminates that which might condemn his or her client. In the same manor, the truly great lawyer is always aware of the circumstantial evidence, much like, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or having been seen in close proximity of a crime.
Not that I advocate that good lawyers get bad people out of paying for their crimes; but if you really want to get right down to it, we are all guilty in the eyes of God's law! We just so happen to have a Savior, and He happens to be very close to the Judge; He also happens to be a very good Advocate! If you are going to need someone to defend you, you always better off having someone that knows that you are not guilty; they are more passionately going to defend you.
What makes this case? Is there really a case for Christ? Does this strangely worded verse show forth the power and strength which is found in our Redeemer? I confess, it has me all tied up and struggling for a way to get out of the mess; as I can hardly see the light at the end of the tunnel. Oh wait, I think it is more that evident, because I see the light:
"Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." (Hebrews 4:11-14)
Real beauty is in the eye of the Beholder...
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1-4)
