"I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not." (S.O.S. 3:2)
Just a word of encouragement for any that might be seekers: Don't stop seeking, ever! Even when you do find the answer, the seeking does not stop there, because now it is time to seek out those to share the answer with!
As to whether he hides His face, just so you know, it is not hiding; His Light is always just as it always is, but there are things that get in the way. We might not see His face, because He also can hide His face by allowing us to place something else in the way; you might not even realize that it is happening, because we tend to ignore the "elephant in the room," as if it is not really all that big of a deal.
Pastor Bryan didn't get a chance to share something yesterday day because it started to rain, but one of the sins Jesus did not speak to the Rich Young Ruler about in, Matthew 19:18-19, was coveting. I am pretty sure it was going to come up, because it is the one sin we so often forget about, as if there is no harm and no foul in just wishing or longing for something that belongs to someone else. But the thing about what happens when we covet, it is opening the door to sin: It is in and of itself, a gateway sin!
Case in point, is Cain and his act of murdering his brother: he would not have hated his brother as he did, had he not coveted his brother's relationship with God and wished he had the same, but on his own terms! We can never ever think we know what is going on in someone else; what it is that they do and how they might deal with it, or even if it is something that they have concern over. Cain would have not been concerned about it, had it not bothered him in the first place; but it did, and because it did, he should have taken it up with God!
Something I am very convinced on, that when we take a step towards Him, He will take two steps in our direction! Don't even think what you might be thinking, because it is not what you think. God is Light: and because He illuminates His Light, the ugliness in us gets brighter, to us. As strange as that might sound, it is what makes us feel further away from Him...
"Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don't participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires." (Romans 13:13-14) NLT
