"Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God." (Hebrews 9:6 KJV)
"Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other, But - "When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial to everyone." (Titus 3:3-8 NLT)
Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas, which is meant to be for good fellowship and times to share with your family and friends. Other than that, we must always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season! As we go into the New Year, many of us will be planning new goals and setting out to make promises to ourselves and others; most of us will most likely fail, as that is usually the case. But the most important things we can plan on, however and whenever you make it to be, is to have your own special time every day to pray and spend time in God's word. Set aside at least 10% of your day to prayer and spending time with God; making that your most important goal, more than anything else!
Having been committed to this blog, regardless of how I might feel, I have always been consistent and the only days that were missed were the three days in the hospital. That said, you must be committed and not give up, no matter how you do it or make it your special time with the Lord. I prefer mornings, most of all; as I usually start at 4am by praying for an hour, then I spend about an hour and a half reading and typing this blog. Some mornings don't do much, as far as inspiration; but most morning bring me to tears and I feel that God inspired me to read and declare, whatever He was allowing me to say.
Anywho, that is my best reason for setting that goal, because we tend to replace those times we set to be with the Lord with other things; one day leads to two, and then two days leads to three or four; and before you know it, you are hardly spending time with God at all. Your Bible, (if you have one,) is not within reach, and is just sitting somewhere getting dusty. You know what I mean, I have had those times in certain seasons of my walk with the Lord, so I know it is something that happens, from time to time. But, to be totally honest, this thing I do every morning, however it might seem, is keeping me in prayer and opening my Bible every morning; and that has been all these years of staying consistent!
With that, I will say the whole reason I think it remains constant is the commitment I have, and the point of being accountable to keep on going. Without that accountability, I probably would have never been able to be consistent; I would have slipped away as more people do from time to time, just trying to deal with life and struggling to keep it together. We must make God our number one priority, and everything else will be less stressful...
"May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus Christ our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires." (2 Peter 1:2-4 NLT)
