"For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart." (Ecclesiastes 5:20 KJV)
"It is better to be godly and have little than to be evil and rich." (PSALM 37:16 NLT)
If there was a way to explain this, I do believe that most people still would not understand what was being said. However, if you think about those times when you were feeling as though you were going under; it is the hardships of this life that you quickly forget, much like those Servepro commercials: "Just like it never happened.'
That doesn't mean you won't remember, because it clearly says, "shall not remember much," but there is something about the pain and suffering, it seems to be not so much; especially compared to what it once was, during your trial. God makes a way, when there seems like there is no way! And just as easy as you were convinced that you were done, you somehow recover, and hardly remember why you were feeling as though there was no hope.
I know, it really doesn't make sense! If we could only stay in that place where we have complete and unmovable confidence in the Lord's protection, then we would never have to worry about anything this world might take us through. It is all about where we are in our faith with God! If we feel as though we have no fellowship with Him, we will be utterly vulnerable and feeling hopeless; but if we know He is with us, we have a whole different outlook on any situation, no matter what might come against us.
What a difference there is in the perspective of God's greatness...
"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes - the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."" (Romans 1:16-17 NLT)
