"When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?" (Ecclesiastes 5:11 KJV)
"Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory." (Colossians 3:1-4 NLT)
Okay then, if we have seen part of what it means to have abundance, we must accept this as something that actually belongs to God; if it belongs to God, then it isn't right for us to let it go to waste. Adam was told by God to tend the garden, which meant that he was to watch over it and guard it; keeping the garden, as it were, in harmony and as a blessing, given by God, but belonging to God!
Another way we can look at this, is our families. The children that we have are given to us by God, and it is our responsibility to raise them up as treasure of God! However, this current culture of abundance, takes away from the proper raising of children, and they are lift being raised by schools and entertainment and things which take the place of the knowledge of God.
Not to change the subject, but it is a lot like my back yard! That which is lacking in my responsibilities to maintain what God has given, is taken up by working harder to just maintain that which I have; making that which I have something to behold, yet, only to notice it needs my attention!
Don't worry about anything, this too will pass! Seriously, we must focus on what matters the most, even though things might need a little repair, the most important repair is the relationship we have with the Lord! When we get that right, everything else will work out for the good...
"Then the LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: 'May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.' Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them."" (Numbers 6:22-27 NLT)
