"The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasten to his place where he arose." (Ecclesiastes 1:5 KJV)
"Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose. And the LORD was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself, "I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent towards evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things. As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night."" (Genesis 8:20-22 NLT)
First off, we must be extremely grateful that our sins have been blotted out, never to be judged by the One that will judge all sin. Micah 7:19 says: "He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all our sins into the deepest of the seas." Yet, in Revelation 21:1 it says, "the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea also was gone." So, that means that there will be no diving down to bring up any of those forgiven sins!
If I had a chance to write a novel based upon this verse, I believe it wouldn't get finished in my lifetime, no matter how much time I still had on this earth! Imagine for a moment that you where the character that Bill Murray played in 'Ground Hog Day.' This is about how we put off that which we know in our heart is something the God is prompting us to do; maybe it happens every other month, or year, or decade; but it is something we know we should do, but never really carry it out.
You know by now that the sun doesn't rise or set, right? That big giant ball of fire in the sky doesn't go anywhere, especially not around this little blue dot! As a matter of fact, it is this little blue dot that goes around the sun, rotating as it goes, causing us to see the sun rise in the morning and set in the evening. It takes our little planet 365.01 days to orbit around the sun, the equivalent of one year. As Pastor Nathan likes to say, "That is 365 sleeps!"
Amazingly, God never gives up on His children! Even when He quits trying, He will only quit long enough to let us wear ourselves out, which causes us to quit, because we are tired of being sick and tired. Pardon me for taking the liberty to alter the passage below, please...
"The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world: "God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race. The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat. The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living." (PSALM 19:1-8 NLT)
