"And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind." (John 9:39 KJV)
"So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have - the ones God has chosen - but the hearts of the rest were hardened. As the Scriptures say, "God has put them into a deep sleep. To this day he has shut their eyes so they do not see, and closed their ears so they do not hear." Likewise, David said, "Let their bountiful table become a snare, a trap that makes them think all is well. Let their blessings cause them to stumble, and let them get what they deserve. Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see, and let their backs be bent forever."" (Romans 11:7-10 NLT)
Just in case you think that there is something wrong, as if Jesus has misspoken about His reason for coming and contradicted His statement to Nicodemus in John 3:17; this judgment is based upon the fact that Jesus saves, period! There is no other way to be saved, besides being washed by the blood of Jesus Christ!
If that offends anyone, there is the proof you are looking for that He is the only way. I heard a message yesterday afternoon, as Pastor Jeff was sharing something he had heard from another Pastor that had a large church, say, and I quote: "Believing Jesus is the only way to heaven is insanity." The judgment that Jesus is speaking of here, is related to that statement!
As much as I would like to think that there is some other way, it takes away from the sacrifice Jesus made on that cross, as it was for the whole world that He died, not just for some. The whosoever people are the ones that believe; those that do not believe have already been judged, for their unbelief.
I didn't make the rule, so don't try and say that I am being narrow-minded. But Jesus did say that the road was narrow that leads to salvation; but the road that leads to destruction is very wide! Ponder that for a moment and you will see where judgment comes into the picture.
Besides that, man is always thinking that they can work their way to God, in some form or fashion. For the Jew, it was laid out before them with the Law, as they thought God's intention was to give them the Law for them to keep. How can they keep something that they cannot keep? The whole point of the Law was to show them that they needed salvation! That they were utterly lost in their sins and needed some other way, because keeping the Law was not possible!
I heard another message, maybe it was Monday afternoon, as it referred to the Judgment in Heaven, that many Mormon missionaries are looking forward to the Great White Throne Judgment, because they have worked so hard to spread the news about the Book of Mormon.
Again, I do not make the rules; I can only make judgment on what I believe to be Truth...
"But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)" (Ephesians 2:4-5 NLT)
