"This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote of the ground, as though he heard them not." (John 8:6 KJV)
"Meanwhile, my enemies lay traps to kill me. Those who wish me harm make plans to ruin me. All day long they plan their treachery. But I am deaf to all their threats. I am silent before them as one who cannot speak. I choose to hear nothing, and I make no reply." (Psalm 38:12-14 NLT)
As said before, John goes through every chance available to make known the deity of Jesus Christ. It might seem unimportant, but there must have been a reason that this portion of Scripture was removed from many early manuscripts. Weirdly enough but figuring out what might be the reason for the removal, is just the same as trying to figure out what Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger!
You might not agree with this, as many there are that don't, but the whole notion that Jesus was writing in the dust or sand or dirt, that is all so anyone reading can imagine there was something for Him to push around on that Temple floor with His finger. When you picture the Temple floor, this area was where people would sit down to hear a message and was most likely swept and kept free from dirt and debris.
There are a few other times recorded in the Bible where God wrote upon stone, with His finger; why not here! I'm not saying that this was the reason, because that would pure speculation. But the two times that I can think of, both involved judgment: The original tablets with the Ten Commandments, and the wall to judge Belshazzar for mocking God...
"Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was in Jerusalem; and the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another." (Daniel 5:3-6 KJV)
