"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:11 KJV)
"Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously." (Isaiah 55:6-7 NLT)
Getting back to something I said earlier, (actually, a lot of somethings,) we must believe that Jesus was, is, and always will be God! There was no other way for all mankind to be saved, except that God would come and offer Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the entire world. Only He could pay the price, because only He is worthy enough to be that perfect unblemished sacrifice for all of our sins!
I have had so many discussions with many J.W. followers; much of which ended in a deeper wedge being planted between us. It is much the same as the situation here, as the Scribes and Pharisees were held by a certain power, call it envy or whatever you want, but their hearts were hardened against the truth. To be clear: it was God's will for them to be the way that they were, as it was what must be, for them to be able to insist that Jesus be put to death.
This might not be the reason that this portion of Scripture was taken out of this story, because John has been making the same case all along: God became flesh and dwelt among us! But there are certain things about what was done in order to make us free from sin, things that we just absolutely cannot take for granted.
As we enter into this coming weekend, we must remember what it is that we are celebrating, and the incredible power that was brought into our world! We need to be looking up, because He is not quite done dealing with this world yet...
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." (2 Peter 3:8-13 KJV)
