"Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews." (John 7:13 KJV)
"Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting in the LORD means safety." (Proverbs 29:25 NLT)
Before you go and think that there is nothing wrong with not saying anything, you must remember what went on in the story of Peter, and his denial of Jesus. I can only imagine the feeling he had after the Rooster crowed, as he made eye contact with the Lord; it must have stripped him of ever once of pride he had in him, realizing that what he thought he could withstand, became the stand he couldn't do.
To be totally honest, sometimes it requires more than just the little strength we might have on our own; we need to call upon the Lord to give us boldness and the ability to deny ourselves. Talk about a way of learning how to share, being that guy I see myself as, is not always the way things turn out.
I know that I shared on this before, but there are times when the Holy Spirit needs to be the one that speaks for us; times when we really don't know what to say, and that which is said comes from our mouth, but it is the Holy Spirit that does the talking.
These are the times when we pray that God will use us, even if we might not really know what to do or say, but we just make ourselves available, that He can work through us. Seriously, sometimes all that is required of us, is to show up and let God do what God does: Flow out from us, because people really do want to know the truth...
"We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold now is the day of salvation.)" (2 Corinthians 6:1-2 KJV)
