"My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD." (Psalms 104:34)
Now, when it comes to being glad, this is not to be contested! It's not like we have a choice, as some might consider; we are to rejoice because we have been given something to be glad about, something that this world can never give us, and it can never take it away. I know I have shared this before, but it deserves repeating. It is a lot like when God was speaking to Job, saying, "Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me." (Job 38:2-3) This was not just God asking a question, this was God demanding a little respect for having created Job in the first place. I mean, we can look upon our situations and feel sad all that we want, but when it comes to God, all of that stuff needs to be sit aside, because none of it really matters. Another example, would be when Jesus heeled the man on the Sabbath, the one who He asked, "Wilt thou be made whole?" (John 5:6) Jesus told the man, "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk." He did not just say to rise up and walk; no, He told the man to also pick us his bed. That might not sound like it is all that important, but it was the Sabbath Day, and any kind of labor was forbidden. There are certain things required of us that trump our situation, where we are, or even what day it is that we might be living in. What day are you living in today? If it's a day that has you feeling down or discouraged, then get out of it, because you do have a choice. Put your focus on the Lord, the Creator of your very life, both old and new, and live in that day where nothing here on this earth can even come close to the joy of being with Him. So, what is it that might be robbing you of the joy of the Lord? Is it your current situation? Okay, let's just say that it is; and let's just say that you feel lost and completely out of options; how does that make you feel? It might be easy to stay in that moment, but you have a choice! Somebody loves you! He cares what you are going through and He is there for you to reach out and touch Him. He will even carry you, if that is what it takes; but He demands the respect of your gratefulness; so, be glad in the LORD...
"Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again -rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (Philippians 4:4-8) NLT
