"Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure." (Psalms 103:21)
If there is a place that takes me away from worry and stress, it's in knowing that God is able to do something with whatever I make of anything. I don't think we get that, because we spend so much time being concerned about the what if's, as if my life would have been better if I had only done this or that. There is nothing more that we can do to change the past, the past is what it was; but the future, that is a whole other subject. Right now, right where we are, that is where God has us; this place we are in is where God would have us, it is where God would have us be changed. I think of Jacob, how he was at the end of his rope; all alone, expecting his brother, who was quickly approaching his camp, to come and take him out. He was thinking, 'If I had only not taken his birthright? If I had only not stolen his blessing?' What happens next? God shows up and changes him! He goes from Deceiver, to Governed by God, with just a touch from his Loving Father. All that he was worried about, it was all just in his mind; God had already cleared it all up! What about Peter? The disciple who swore that he would not abandon Jesus, even though Jesus told him it would happen anyway; did he have regrets? Or Paul, who persecuted the ones who followed Jesus; did he also regret having done what he did? Both of those men were ministers of the Gospel, and as such, the message they carried in their heart was louder than anything they could have done in the past. That is what the message is all about, changed lives! Whether or not we are still talking about angels, it is not that important; what is important is the fact that God can change every situation, every heart, and put each and every one of His ministers on a new destination. What we might think is lost, God can turn it around for good. What we look back upon as ruined, God can raise it up as a blessing. He can do this, not only because He is God, but because He is God, and He loves us...
"The word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does. He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the LORD fills the earth. The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. He assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. Let the whole world fear the LORD, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command. The LORD frustrates the plans of nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the LORD'S plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken." (Psalms 33:4-11) NLT
