"Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations." (Psalms 82:8) As with most of the Psalms, the last verse is pretty much the highlight of all that was being said; in that regard, this verse pretty much closes the argument on who has the upper hand. This starts off with placing God above all that are high and mighty; no matter who, whether spiritual leaders or leaders of nations, God is watching over and judging all that they do or say, especially the way that they judge the people under them. That is pretty much everyone's duty, not just those placed in powerful places, but every mother or father, employer or teacher; anyone who has any chance to influence the life or direct the life of another person, is responsible for their judgment of those they oversee. How that groups together with spiritual warfare is pretty interesting, because there is more of a connection than many of us realize. We can gleam a small hint of this in Paul's letter to Ephesus, as he makes the case for there being only 'One Body' of which we are all members, none more important than the other. This counts for Jews and Gentiles as well; even though the Jews are God's chosen people, we all are grafted into that same tree; thus becoming part of His peculiar people, the chosen children of God. How that fits into the spiritual warfare is part of knowing our place in the battle, and who it is that we are fighting against; because it's surely not our brothers and sisters! Much like Paul's letter starts out, that is how we must start looking at our position, we are seated in Christ! First and foremost, that is where we have been placed; and from that position we must remain, whether we are leading others or being led, there is no difference, because we all are seated in Christ. Only from that position can we stand in the spiritual battle; only from the position of being totally dependent upon Christ can we have any chance of being able to stand at all...
"I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, "Look, God's home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever." And the one sitting on the throne said, "Look, I am making everything new!" And then he said to me, "Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true." And he also said, "It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega -the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars -their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."" (Revelations 21:3-8) NLT
