"He choose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: from following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance." (Psalms 78:70-71) When it comes to being a servant of God, we are chosen by God for His particular service; and not just that, but He is the one who made us for His particular service. I know it's hard to wrap our limited minds around that thought, but being an 'Earthen Vessel' is the result of a Potter who formed us, long before we had a choice to choose to obey Him. Wild, isn't it? I know it's pretty old school to consider a study of the basic Gospel, but it's something we need to keep at the forefront of our minds and fresh in our hearts. We are what we are because God has created us to be a peculiar people; He has given us a purpose to be used of Him and for His glory. It might sound a little weird, but we are a lot like His trophies. When you think about it, there are are really many different ways that God uses any one of us to achieve His purposes; even in the most out of the ordinary and sick looking ways, He is able to cause good and long lasting results for His kingdom. That's just how He gets things done! I don't care what horrible experience you might have gone through or are currently going through, God can take your situation and use it for good. Where is gets exciting is when you actually come to terms with that in your own heart; then you are no longer feeling beaten upon, but that you're in the hand of the One doing the work, an actual tool being used to make glorious trophies for the Lord, to be displayed for all eternity...
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance -an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold -though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world." (1 Peter 1:3-7) NLT
