"Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck." (Psalms 75:5) This verse is actually connected to verse four, as if to continue that point; however, there is something to be said about people who think that they have something coming to them, just because they know someone or for whatever other reason drives a person to be arrogant and filled with pride. Besides, the title of that last post was set to the instruction that God is giving, much as this verse today; in other words, the "road to glory" is "paved in humility." If you have studied the Bible at all, you would realize how important it is to pay attention to Israel and their relationship they have with God. They really have nothing to offer up to God, yet God calls them 'His Beloved Children' and 'The Apple of His Eye.' He also calls them 'Stiff-necked' and 'Corrupted,' but that does not mean God does not love them, because His relationship with them is not based upon their ability to be holy or act as though they are righteous; God knows who they are, better than they know themselves, but He loves them despite all of their imperfections and sinful ways. Here is the reason, if you are wondering, how it is that God can love someone that most times refuses to love Him back: it's because He is God and we are not! It's because He is a 'Covenant Keeping God' that never changes His mind! When He calls you a son or daughter, He knows everything about you when He calls you to Himself; at that time He calls you, He knows in advance what you are like, and how disobedient you can be at times; but that does not stop Him from loving you! He is your Father in Heaven that loves you as His precious child that needs to be fixed; we are broken and dying, and He has made a way for us to be made whole and live forever! So, if you really want to know what it means to be humble, then there you have it! You fall on your face and give God thanks for loving you; despite all your wickedness and foolishness, He never stops loving you...
"If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it. But when God found fault with the people, He said: "The day is coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and led them out of the land of Egypt. They did not remain faithful to my covenant, so I turned my back of them, says the LORD. But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, 'You should know the LORD.' For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already. And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." When God speaks of a "new" covenant, it means He has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear." (Hebrews 8:7-13) NLT
