"They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee." (John 18:30 KJV)
"While their hatred may be concealed by trickery, their wrongdoing will be exposed in public." (Proverbs 26:26 NLT)
"Nothing to see here!" When you usually hear that, it is because there is something to see, they just don't want you to see what it is. That's all they got, to call Jesus an evil-doer, which doesn't really point to any particular crime, but just make him out to be someone who is doing wrong.
Let's pretend we don't know anything, but we are just a bystander, trying to get a look at whatever might be happening here. For example: Say you might have heard some of the evil things that Jesus might have done, like making the blind to see. Maybe the blind person didn't want to see, and now he has to get a real job! How about raising the dead to life? The dead guy was in Abraham's bosom, now he is back to die all over again!
To be real, these are just a couple of the things that these Jewish leaders actually knew Jesus did; they had complete and vivid proof that these things were done. In spite of what they knew, they called Him an evil-doer, without letting the good that He had done be known. There are just too many similarities here, much of which is hitting too close to home!
Did you know, for example, that Donald Trump has been blamed for the attack on Israel? Yes, the simple fact that he did a couple of things that some didn't like, like setting up the "Abraham Accord," and making Jerusalem to be declared Israel's capital; things like that set the region into chaos, and he is to blame!
These are not quite the same things, but the spite is very similar! However, on a very good note: The crazies are coming out of the woodwork and are being exposed. There are several things that are being discovered, that were once cancelled and no one was paying attention to, but now the proverbial cat is being exposed and let out of the bag!
All of that said! God is still on His Throne! He has the last say in everything, and His Will, will be done! What we must do, every chance we get, is to pray that we are doing His will, and that we do it well...
"I don't want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses. All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness." (1 Corinthians 10:1-5 NLT)
