"Now before the feast of Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end." (John 13:1 KJV)
"He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:8-9 NLT)
John does more to express who Jesus was, more than the things Jesus did; but those things he does give us about what Jesus did, are those things which prove who He was, is, and forever will be! That first miracle, turning the water into wine, was one that showed that Jesus was the Creator, as He created wine, very good wine, without even lifting a finger, but just by a command.
I have been fascinated by this fact, since the very first moment that I believed, that Jesus Christ was the Creator of heaven and earth, yet He hung on a cross to pay the price for our sins! It causes me to think, "Why would He make something that He would have to suffer for?" Well, if anyone has had a child that you were blessed with, and you suffered for them, would you regret it?
We are mere mortals that cannot see into the future of what life will be like, to see what fate awaits us, or how our children will turn out. But does that mean we don't want to have children, if we don't know how they will turn out, or if they should even survive? No, we take our chances and enjoy every moment of life we have with them; hoping and praying that they survive long after us.
Besides that, Jesus had been sent to do what He had planned to do from the very beginning of time. By the way: Do you know when time began? You should know, because it began when He created the earth. Before the earth was created, there was no night and day, which is what we base time on; that the measure of time was created for us.
Isn't that amazing, how Jesus came here, from the eternal to the moment-by-moment life that we live. Not only did He come in the flesh but became susceptible to the time that He created. That is, until He rose from the dead! There is the powerful and glorious reason! He did it all for us, that we too can live forever, with Him!
We know what we have been told, but He knows the beginning to the very end! He made us to love Him, but not because we are forced to love Him, but because we would learn to love Him, based on His love for us! His plan was well thought out and unstoppable...
"For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all the future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness towards us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." (Ephesians 2:6-10 NLT)
